Lhotse, the world's 5th highest peak at 8,516 m (27,940 ft), viewed from the south in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal. Its main summit was first climbed on May 18, 1956, by Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger from a Swiss expedition.
